Description
This unit can be used for N Scale and HO Scale. The speed unit can be switched between kilometers and miles. The speed is automatically displayed after the vehicle passes. Unit gets power from USB and a USB-A to Mini-B is included with your speedometer. User will need to provide own power source (computer, wall plug, usb battery pack, etc.)

Challenging Setup &...
Once set up and in the right conditions, this unit works well, although it is very basic, and the user interface is clunky/crude. My unit as delivered required a lot of fiddling before it would work. The documentation (manual) is sparse, and reads like a poor translation to English. A couple of calls to Midwest and some experimentation were needed. The sensor light position needed adjusting slightly (correct advice from Midwest), and the sensitivity screws also needed adjusting. The unit is very sensitive to ambient light conditions. If lighting changes at all (for example, if your room is affected by daylight), the unit will need repositioning. If there is too much ambient light, it just won't work at all. Some sort of cover or makeshift tunnel might be required to address this issue. The unit is very sensitive to placement, specifically distance from and height to the tracks, depending on ambient light conditions.
