Description
Built for Rock Island Railroad in 1973, this gondola with Barber Roller Bearing trucks has a 263,000-pound capacity and belonged to a series of 100 cars. It was later obtained by Chicago & North Western, and then by Union Pacific. Union Pacific continues to operate today as one of the largest Class 1 railroads in North America with over 32,000 miles of track.

Micro-Trains CNW (UP) 50' Gondola
A great car from Micro-Trains, as usual. I added a little weathering with PanPastel Black, and now it looks just like the car in the Railroad Picture Archives photo of the actual car.
