Shipping & Returns

Shipping Policy

 We strive to keep your shipping costs to a minimum by calculating the cost for each order individually.  All items in the cart have their weight and size combined and sent to UPS and USPS for quotes.  Many factors influence shipping costs including size, weight, distance from our warehouse, and the shipping method chosen.  The cost for each of the following options is displayed in your cart:

 USPS Ground Advantage, USPS Priority Mail, UPS Ground and UPS 2nd Day Air 

 We ship to most international countries using the following options:

 USPS First Class Package International, USPS Priority Mail International, UPS Worldwide Saver

 We also offer in-store pickup for our nearby customers.  You must have a billing address within a 250 mile radius of the store to take advantage of this feature.

 Return Policy

 We recognize mistakes happen and returns are a necessary part of doing business.  If the return is a result of our error we will make every effort to make it good.   However, we don’t have the resources to accommodate every return request.

Return limitations

 A return must be initiated within 30 days of receipt of the item.

 We can’t accept returns on gift cards, books and magazines, open electronics including, but not limited to, decoders and systems, and rocket engines.

 Most manufacturers insist the customer return defective, broken, or inoperative items directly to them and will not accept returns from us.  Defects include broken or missing parts, paint quality or color, scratches, glue marks, and imperfections.  We can not accept returns of these items; they must be returned to the manufacturer.  Exceptions are Walthers, Athearn, and ESU products.


Return Processing & Refunds

 Request a return by email or by logging into your account.  All returns must be approved by a customer service representative before they will be accepted.   

 If the return is a result of our error or damage caused by insufficient or incorrect packing we will issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)  and send a return label along with a replacement item if applicable.  Please attach photos of the packaging and the damaged items to your return request. 

 If the requested return is as a result of damage by the carrier please file a claim with the carrier then contact us with the claim information. Please attach photos of the packaging and the damaged items to your return request. 

 Returns of defective Walthers, Athearn, and ESU products:  We will issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA)  and send a return label along with a replacement item if applicable.  

 If the return is for other reasons such as the wrong item was ordered, it doesn’t fit, or you just don’t like the item, we will accept returns if you pay the return shipping.  

 If you request a refund, like new, unopened items will be refunded less 5% to cover our costs and restocking. If you request a store credit, we will issue that at full value. 

 Opened items in saleable condition will be refunded less a 15%  restocking fee.  If you request a store credit the restocking fee will be reduced to 10%.  Items that are returned in unsellable condition will not be refunded.  

 Once we receive your return we will send an email stating it has been received, and the amount of the refund if applicable.  A credit will be applied to your credit card or original method of payment within a few days.  Refunds take some time to be applied to your account by credit card companies so please be patient.  If you haven’t received your refund within 7 days, please contact us.  Store credit can be issued and used with no delay.

 Gift Returns

 If the returned item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, we will issue a gift credit for the value of your returned item.  Once the item is returned, a gift certificate will be emailed to you.  If the returned item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased we will send a refund to the gift giver.

 Cancellations

 If you cancel an entire order before we process a shipping label, we will refund your order in full.  If we have created a shipping label we will refund your order less 5%.  We are unable to cancel an order after it has left our warehouse.

 If you cancel an item or items in an order, we will refund the cost of the items in full.
