N Scale Covered Hopper

A covered hopper is a self-clearing enclosed train freight vehicle used for loading and unloading. These cars typically carry dry bulk cargo, such as grain, sand, clay, and other similar materials. The cover on the car will keep the cargo dry and safe from the elements. Wet cement would be difficult to unload, and soaked grain would spoil quickly during transport. 

Because of their smaller size, N Scale covered hoppers are particularly great for seasoned enthusiasts who are looking for more complex designs. Covered hoppers model trains allow for more compact layouts of expansive infrastructure, like lengthy, intricate railroads that wind up mountains or through bustling train yards. Complex buildings are possible at the N Scales, but the size and scope of your layout still matter.
