Retrofit DCC ready compatible locos...
This item helps save a few bucks imo by diy your dc locos to dcc verh easily. That said this model lacks soundwhich could be good or bad depending on your preference.

Solder...
What were they thinking? The tabs had solder blobs where the tabs attach to the decoder. I was having issues with the decoder shorting out due to the size of the blobs. I wrapped the decoder in Kapton tape and finally got it to stop shorting. The electronics are fine otherwise. I have used these decoders in the past and really like them. I would return it but then I would have to wait to run my Kato ES44AC and I don't want that. I was pulling my hair out until I figured out what was happening. If anyone botherred to examine this decoder they would have noticed it. Too bad; I like NCE and this retailer.

Easy...
Installed on a Kato GEES44AC and it wass easiest install I have done in N scale. I could leave the LEDS on the board and they worked well through the light pipes.
