My roadbed of...
Various comparisons with sound transmission between this and cork convinced me to try it. I am really glad I did. I have found those reports to be accurate this is really quiet running when you have sound engines. It is really easy to work with and you don't need to clean up edges or sanding they a lot of people do with cork. Just glue it down and you are ready to lay track.

Great...
I usually use cork for my roadbed, but that seems difficult to find at the present. So when I needed roadbed for a project layout, I decided to try Woodlands Scenics foam roadbed, both in 2' straight sections and in 24' rolls. Both products are easy to use, easy to cut and glue, and seem to hold up well to track laying. I don't have a way to directly compare sound transmission to the plywood subroadbed, but this foam does seem to be fairly quiet... the noise from an old Bachmann gear driven locomotive far exceeds that of the noise from wheels on rail at any rate. I will potentially switch up my roadbed plans from cork to Woodland Scenics foam when it gets closer to building my primary N scale layout. Well done, Woodland Scenics!
