This covered hopper model is based on a late 1970s 263,000 lbs GRL (Gross Rail Loading) 4750 cubic-foot capacity designed by Thrall Car primarily for grain transport.

Atlas 4750 cu. ft. Covered Hopper DJTX 475536
This being an Atlas "Trainman" car, it was missing some important detail, but that was expected, so I'm OK with that. There were no discharge gates on the hoppers, but that was remedied with some styrene pieces from my scrap box. There were no etched metal crossover platforms on the car ends, but that was fixed with two etched metal platforms I had purchased from Micro-Trains in bulk. The car-top walkway is thick plastic but I expected that so I'm OK with that too. I replaced the AccuMate trucks/couplers with Micro-Trains 1035 trucks/couplers. All things considered, I'm pleased with my purchase as I now have a car that I've wanted for some time.
