Description
Pre-Order Due Date: October 30th 2025
Most manufacturers give a Pre Order ETA which can be seen near the 'add to cart' button. They also give a due date which is indicative of when the product is expected to go into production.
There is a 5% NON-refundable deposit for preorders, this amount will be deducted from the price of the product when it arrives. You will see how much downpayment is required after adding the item to your cart.
For any pre-order submitted after the due date, we will try our best to fulfill your order, but are at the mercy of the manufacturer and if they produce more than were preordered by their dealers.
Pre-Orders will show a 0 shipping cost now, and shipping will be included on your invoice at time of product arrival.
When the product(s) are available to ship, you will receive an invoice via email and text through Intuit QuickBooks for the remaining 95%. Message and data rates may apply.
Please note that Estimated Arrival Dates can change at any point. Midwest Model Railroad is not responsible for manufacturers delaying production.
_______________
Before corporate jets and Zoom calls, railroads had Business Cars—rolling offices and mobile headquarters used by railroad executives, inspectors, and VIP guests. These cars were typically positioned at the rear of a train and featured a blend of work and comfort: private offices, meeting space, sleeping quarters, and an observation area to monitor the track and operations.
Business Cars played a critical role in managing and promoting the railroad. Executives and officials would travel the system to inspect infrastructure, meet with local communities, or entertain key clients. From the outside, these cars were often among the most distinctive on a train, with open platforms or rear-facing windows and ornate finishes. Inside, they combined functionality with luxury, embodying the prestige and authority of the railroad itself.
Though their use declined in the second half of the 20th century, Business Cars remain iconic symbols of the railroad’s golden age—and continue to serve ceremonial and special-event roles on modern railroads today.
Our Heavyweight Business Car models are based on the PRR Z74D prototype. For this run, we are offering models of 11 prototypical paint schemes representing cars with a similar appearance and purpose across various railroads, along with one fun holiday car. Each model features Broadway Limited’s high level of detail and craftsmanship, and all cars are equipped with standard Pullman 2411 trucks.
