It works.
This was purchased to be used in the F7 locomotive that is in the KATO Santa Fe Super Chief Starter Set. In this particular unit it fit about as perfectly as it could without any adapting other than the use of kapton tape and solder as recommended in the instructions. Did have some problems with it running intermittently with no power except for the headlight, but after doing a CV8=8 using address 03 reset per Digitrax it continues to run well.

Drop in decoder.
Drops in the chassis of my CN Kato F7 A unit. Need to bend LED at the front. I had to put capton tape on the front and backside sides of the board to the frame to maintain good pickup from the body undercarriage. I cleaned out the underside of the plastic black cabin insert so the board would sit flat. With these minor tweaks everything works as it should.
