Description
Pre-Order Due Date: October 30th, 2025
Most manufacturers give a Pre Order ETA which can be seen near the 'add to cart' button. They also give a due date which is indicative of when the product is expected to go into production.
Please note that the software forces us to leave the "In Stock" banner up for the product to be orderable. Any pre order that says "In Stock" is not actually in stock, as denoted by the bigger "PRE-ORDER" banner.
There is a 5% NON-refundable deposit for preorders, this amount will be deducted from the price of the product when it arrives. You will see how much downpayment is required after adding the item to your cart.
For any pre-order submitted after the due date, we will try our best to fulfill your order, but are at the mercy of the manufacturer and if they produce more than were preordered by their dealers.
Pre-Orders will show a 0 shipping cost now, and shipping will be included on your invoice at time of product arrival.
When the product(s) are available to ship, you will receive an invoice via email and text through Intuit QuickBooks for the remaining 95%. Message and data rates may apply.
Please note that Estimated Arrival Dates can change at any point. Midwest Model Railroad is not responsible for manufacturers delaying production.
_______________
Santa Fe’s 3460 Class “Super Hudsons” were a small but mighty fleet of six 4-6-4 steam locomotives built in 1937 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. These powerful engines were assigned to high-speed passenger service on the Santa Fe’s transcontinental route between Chicago, Illinois, and La Junta, Colorado.
One of the most remarkable achievements in steam railroading came in December 1937, when locomotive #3461 set a world record for the longest non-stop run by a steam engine—traveling an astonishing 2,227 miles from Los Angeles to Chicago with no maintenance beyond five refueling stops. It was assigned to the Fast Mail Express, showcasing both the reliability and endurance of this class.
By the end of 1956, all but one of the 3460s were scrapped. Fortunately, locomotive #3463 was preserved and remains on display in Topeka, Kansas. Efforts are currently underway by volunteers from the nonprofit Kaw Valley Rail Heritage Conservancy to restore the locomotive, with the hope of relocating it to a new site in Topeka in the future.
In our first production run of the AT&SF 3460 Class Hudsons, we’re proud to offer:
- Four prototypical versions
- Five fantasy paint schemes
- One painted but unlettered
- One painted brass version
Models will be available in two configurations:
- Paragon4 with Sound/DC/DCC and smoke
- Stealth Series – DCC-Ready, soundless version
