Description
Smudge Pot style switch heaters are the most basic type of switch heater. A small tank holds kerosene and a protected wick on the end is lit on fire. Each switch typically would use 4-12 of these under each point rail and would last between 1-2 days depending on how they are set. We are including 3 of the most common styles: Bethlehem Steel “Winter King” heaters, built from the 1940’s-1970’s, a very heavy duty, box style heater with a larger wick. “Hi-Ball” heaters, made by the Mississippi Supply Co., and modern Aldon large capacity stamped metal oval heaters. The latter two styles are still made and used today on railroads all over.
Each set includes 8 of each style.
