When we set out to improve upon the venerable No.5® we knew it had to be just as game-changing as the original. Often referred to as the "Whisker® version of the No.5®", the #148 has dethroned the classic #5 with an even longer-lasting and more reliable design. We took everything you loved about the No.5® and improved upon it. No more fumbling with centering springs. No more multi-piece assemblies. The Whisker® series of couplers is a true drop-in coupler. The #148 is interchangeable with the No.5®, #28, #58, #118, #119, #158, and most manufacturer's Medium Centerset OEM knuckle couplers. For a #38 equivalent use the #148 in a #252 Gearbox. #148 is also a direct replacement for most Bachmann On30 couplers. Supersedes product #14.

It is not recommended to use a metal coupler directly on a metal surface or in a metal draft gearbox to avoid possible electrical crossover and shorting that may cause damage. For insulated couplers use the #28 coupler.

Kadee couplers are the real McCoy; they never disappoint. I am replacing all my old horn hooks with Kadees, and my layout looks and runs so much better. These are a perfect swap-in/swap-out for old Athearn Blue Box shorter rolling stock, especially 40- and 50-foot cars and cabooses.

KADEE BULK PACK - 25 PAIR #148 Whisker couplers
Not much to be said here - Kadee is the standard by which all couplers are judged. I will be building a fleet of coal hoppers as well as standardizing on RTR rolling stock that doesn't have KADEE couplers, and this is an economical way to buy them.
