• This loco has a PIKO SmartSound Decoder 5.1 and powerful loudspeaker professionally installed by PIKO America. This offers realistic lighting functions and the full spectrum of authentic sounds for the real NCTD Sprinter trains.
• These PIKO HO Models have European deep wheel flanges. They run fine on Code 100 track and some, but not all, brands of Code 83 track.

The NCTD SPRINTER provides modern, clean and quiet, diesel-powered commuter service in Northern San Diego County. It connects with trains of Amtrak’s Surfliner, plus commuter services of Metrolink and the Coaster. These PIKO articulated models feature interior lighting and authentic sounds, as well as directional lighting. Typical SPRINTER service features a single articulated unit in off-peak hours or two units coupled together during peak times. The PIKO models also feature new tooling for the larger rooftop AC units vs. a Eurpean Desiro.

Customers using Code 83 track: Contact us with a copy of your sales receipt showing purchase of a SPRINTER model from a PIKO America retailer, and our parts department can provide a set of six replacement wheelsets with smaller “RP25” wheel flanges, for operation on Code 83 track. No charge shipment to addresses in the US and Canada. Subject to availability.
