Description
Pre-Order Due Date: TBA
Most manufacturers give a Pre Order ETA which can be seen near the 'add to cart' button. They also give a due date which is indicative of when the product is expected to go into production.
Please note that the software forces us to leave the "In Stock" banner up for the product to be orderable. Any pre order that says "In Stock" is not actually in stock, as denoted by the bigger "PRE-ORDER" banner.
There is a 5% NON-refundable deposit for preorders, this amount will be deducted from the price of the product when it arrives. You will see how much downpayment is required after adding the item to your cart.
For any pre-order submitted after the due date, we will try our best to fulfill your order, but are at the mercy of the manufacturer and if they produce more than were preordered by their dealers.
Pre-Orders will show a 0 shipping cost now, and shipping will be included on your invoice at time of product arrival.
When the product(s) are available to ship, you will receive an invoice via email and text through Intuit QuickBooks for the remaining 95%. Message and data rates may apply.
Please note that Estimated Arrival Dates can change at any point. Midwest Model Railroad is not responsible for manufacturers delaying production.
_______________
Beginning in 1947, a highly successful promotional train toured the U.S. and Canada, featuring four innovative dome cars by Pullman Standard. Over 28 months, it traveled 65,000 miles, stopped in 181 cities, and was seen by 5.7 million visitors and 20 million more along its route.
Rapido is thrilled to announce the release of the complete four-car “Train of Tomorrow” in HO scale. Designed from the original Pullman blueprints, our model features all four passenger cars of the prototype train:
Dome Coach “Star Dust”
Dome Sleeper “Dream Cloud”
Dome Diner “Sky View”
Dome Lounge/Observation “Moon Glow”

Each passenger car features:
- Designed from original blueprints
- Detailed interiors
- Accurate paint and lettering
- Full lighting
- Complete underbody detailing
- Operating diaphragms with end gates
- Rapido’s renowned stainless steel finish
- Separate grab irons
- Track-powered constant lighting for DC and DCC
- Free-rolling 41-BNO-11 trucks with blackened metal wheels
- 22” minimum radius (18” radius with modification)
The set also includes the trains’ unique EMD E7 locomotive. It will feature a smooth and powerful drive system, accurate decoration, including the unique add-on panels applied for the Train of Tomorrow” tour, and full lighting effect and accurate ESU sounds (on DCC-equipped models).
Finally, we’re including a unique “Train of Tomorrow” tumbler glass as well as other reproduction memorabilia to make your set complete!

Also available in UP!
Following its massively successful tour, the train was sold to the Union Pacific.
The UP put the train into service between Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington as part of trains 458/459 informally known as the "City of Seattle." The cars continued in this service until they were retired between 1961 and 1965. Three of the cars were scrapped, but the observation car “Moon Glow” (now converted for mid-train service) somehow survived.
It remains today at the Utah State Railroad Museum in an unrestored condition.

The set will come packaged in its own special box complete with additional Train of Tomorrow merchandise!
