The Penwood Rural Post Office is based on a prototype structure found in rural North Carolina. It represents a "backwoods" town post office and has some nice features for this small structure. It can serve other purposes if desired - such as a general store or grocery store, and can fit on our model railroad layout in any small town or rural location.
