– Erie Lackawanna (EL) “Gray & Maroon 1973” w/ Interior Lights and Lit Marker Light Boxes shows off Erie Lackawanna’s late caboose paint scheme, and the one that most modelers seem to desire since it goes with their “modern” Erie Lackawanna power! This is a handsome paint scheme no matter how you look at it with a gray center band, maroon body and yellow pinstripes. This body version features sliding window screen tracks and (lit) side body marker lights. These prototype features were added a couple years earlier by the EL, and really stand out in this paint scheme. On the end, the yellow door and angled body stripes provide much-needed visibility. The roof features a wagon wheel antenna and ground plane, smoke jack and small elbow vent pipes. The underside features full brake rigging, battery box and that distinctive low hanging generator with cables and axle belt. Eagle-eyed modelers will notice the lack of a toilet dump pipe – by 1973, the EL has installed a Chemical retention toilet (no more dumping to the tracks). The ends feature an accurate power brake wheel, separately applied coupler cut levers and train line air hoses. The model rides in Tangent’s All-New General Steel Casting “Express” trucks with 33″ standard .110” tread CNC wheels. The caboose has a fully-painted light gray/green and black interior. For lighting, this Tangent EL Repaint is equipped with “golden” interior lights, mimicking the incandescent bulbs of the real cabooses along with lit body side mount red/green marker light boxes. A wand is included to operate the lights – easy with no fuss! We are offering our EL “Gray & Maroon 1973” scheme in 6 numbers. It is worth noting here that each individual car number is photo-matched. That means the little body details like smoke jacks and brake wheels vary by number. That also means specific lettering changes for each car number like placement, repaint dates, COTS data and more. Variety is a wonderful thing. EL repaint cabooses are truly worth doing right – every repaint is different!
