Description
Kit - 5-1/4 x 2 x 1-7/8" 13.3 x 5 x 4.7cm
Based on a typical wooden train station, the Walthers Cornerstone Clarkesville Depot is typical of wooden depots built throughout North America after 1900. Many railroads adopted standard depot designs used throughout their systems, and it was not uncommon for railroads to have several nearly identical depots along a line. This classic combination depot features wood walls with wainscoting, an operator's bay, baggage room doors and two different styles of eave brackets and trim plus printed station name signs. Parts come molded in appropriate colors and clear window glazing. Although the Clarkesville Depot is based on a UP design, very similar stations were used by railroads from coast to coast.

WALTHERS CORNERSTONE 933-3240 - CLARKESVILLE DEPOT - N SCALE KIT
This is a very nice depot when finished! I recommend painting each piece before assembly. Make the station your own. The difficulty level in assembling the station is, in my opinion, medium. You'll need a few tools to make your completed depot look its best. A good sprue cutter is useful to properly remove each piece so that edges are smooth. I found needle nose pliers to be very handy when applying details beneath the soffits and eves. For me, the roof assembly was the most difficult because the roof is made up of four parts that are to be glued together. Mine has a very small separation along the top despite my best efforts to assemble it without faults. It's barely noticeable but I will use a putty to fill the gap and retouch the paint and it should look awesome. I'm likely the only person who would notice but since I was the modeler who did the depot, I notice that. A slight bit of weathering makes the station look even better. This depot is an easier structure to assemble than the Santa Fe style brick depot, but that has a one-piece roof. Both look excellent with proper detail to assembly and a good paint job before assembly. A nicely assembled Clarkesville depot is an excellent addition to my layout and, while not perfect, it rates Five-Stars from this detailed conscious modeler.
