Walthers Trackside Structures surprised...
The first surprise was how much plastic was in the box! My initial impression was that the tooling was too good, the detail too fine, for it to be a Walthers' product. Well, it is; the tooling has been around for quite a while, as the kit was engineered to have been molded in color. It's not anymore; but the parts breakdown betrays its origins and will make painting a breeze. The molding is quite good, virtually zero flash and the detail is much finer and more precise than I had expected. This kit is a pleasant surprise! Highly recommended.

Good...
This kit is a good way to help fill out your yard without spending a lot. Assembly is easy and the pieces square up without a lot of fuss. The only issues I had are that there was a lot of flash on the clapboard panels around the tower windows and some of the instructions (mostly for the tower) were ambiguous or wrong, particularly assembling the tower wall parts but by test-fitting them first you will see where it all goes.
