Pre-Order FAQ

Most manufacturers give an ETA on when they expect to release the pre-order which can be seen near the "add to cart" button on the product page. They also give an order due date (found in the product description) which is indicative of when the product is expected to go into production.

There is a 5% NON-refundable deposit for preorders, this amount will be deducted from the price of the product when it arrives. You will see how much downpayment is required after adding the item to your cart. We do not store your payment information and it is not charged by us when the product arrives.

For any pre-order submitted after the due date, we will try our best to fulfill your pre-order, but are at the mercy of the manufacturer and if they produce more than were preordered by their dealers. If we cannot fulfill your pre-order we will credit the 5% deposit to you.

When the pre-ordered product(s) are available to ship, you will receive an email requesting the remaining 95% payment that will take you to your cart. It is at this point you are asked for shipping address and method OR in-store pickup.. We will never charge your payment method without you checking out. At this time you are also able to add other in-stock items if you wish.

Broadway Limited Imports is excited to share a special update to our HO Scale Union Pacific Big Boy project, arriving in 2027.

In addition to our lineup of prototypically accurate models, we're introducing two all-new fantasy paint schemes that are sure to capture attention and generate excitement among collectors and model railroad enthusiasts. One features a patriotic AFT 250-inspired commemorative design celebrating America's railroad heritage that also plays patriotic music at the press of a button! The other showcases the Big Boy in a beautifully detailed 1800s-inspired ornate paint scheme. These unique additions complement our already popular Union Pacific Big Boy lineup and provide dealers with even more exciting options to offer their customers.

As always, our Big Boy models will be available equipped with Paragon4 Sound/DC/DCC, featuring synchronized smoke for an incredibly realistic operating experience. These locomotives will feature accurate prototypical sounds for the UP Big Boy locomotive but will also play patriotic music by pressing F3 or F4.

About The Prototype: There were 25 locomotives fabricated in two different groups. Class 1 were locomotives #4000-4019 and Class 2 was numbered 4020-4024. The first Big Boy #4000 was delivered to Omaha, NE on September 5, 1941. The Union Pacific Railroad's commitment to the Big Boy required them to replace the lighter rail and straighten out many miles of track for clearance as well as to resize elements of their service areas (such as turntable lengths, etc.) for the entire line these locos would run on.

The Big Boys demonstrated fantastic strength and speed as they faced these challenges throughout their storied careers. With the total mileage on the Big Boy fleet being approximately 1,000,000 miles for each locomotive, one must say that they earned their reputation.
