Description

The first trestle kit to include laser-cut piers, laser-cut bulkheads, and Micro Engineering's Bridge Flex Trak. All the other manufacturers making laser cut bridges have copied this kit, so it must be a good one! Beware, none of the other manufacturer's kits include bridge track. This is the easiest wood trestle kit you will ever build! May be built straight or curved. Full scale drawings are also included to use as construction templates. Includes Micro Engineering's Bridge Flex Trak. Code 83 in HO scale and code 70 in N scale. Pile and frame type trestle found on nearly every railroad in North America. N scale bridge: 5 5/8" long, 1 1/4" tall.

Fewer details than Blair Line 067 - Wood...

Posted by Mac on 1st Aug 2023

There are TWO Blair Line N Scale wood trestle kits, that at first appear to be identical. I bought my first trestle kit several years ago, and I kind of mangled the round posts (piles), so bought another kit last month for spare parts. Surprise, the posts are not the same. With the first one, Timber Trestle Kit #067, there are no supporting cross members; the posts are just "sunk into the ground" for support. The new one, Pile & Frame Trestle #071, has horizontal cross-braces - "wood sill" - that the square posts/piles sit on. I am happy with the extra support, but not so happy with the short-cuts with #071. The track assembly in #071 is missing the inside Guard Rails that were provided in kit #067, and there are some smaller detailed pieces that sick out from the longitudinal "stringers" that run under the ties below the main rails. Not a problem; I replaced the round piles from #067 with the square piles (and sills) from #071, and they look fine with the extra details of kit #067.
