Jackson Railcar N5001 - Slipform Grain Elevator - N Scale

Slipform grain elevators are built by continuously pouring concrete into a moving formwork system (“slip forming”) so the structure rises steadily during construction. This method can create tall, smooth, reinforced tower shells efficiently with fewer form changes. It’s commonly used for modern on-farm or commercial grain storage where durability, speed, and structural consistency are important. Since slip forming makes constructing elevators easier, this model is also designed to make it easier for you to add an elevator to your layout.

Model a simple slipform grain elevator with this kit, which comes as two pieces to be assembled. This kit contains two main pieces, the main body and the headhouse/roof. When you open your package, you’ll notice that the headhouse portion is inverted inside the model. Flip it the other way and glue. Along with these two parts, there is a small selection of windows and doors to add details to the cutouts on the elevator. These are delicate parts, be gentle and attach using model glue.

When assembling and preparing your model, if there are portions that you are not satisfied with, give a quick sanding. The base of the elevator is designed to be embedded into scenery, and so if there is some warpage, hide with scenery. You can also fix it by using filler putty.
