– Louisville & Nashville (L&N) “The Dixie Line” 1962+ is a repainted “blue L&N car.”  This is the classic repaint scheme that L&N applied to many box cars in the 1960s that includes “The Dixie Line” and “Louisville & Nashville” stenciling on the right side of the car.  The left side of the car includes large L&N reporting marks.  While all of the stenciling on this car is “yellow,” when you look closer you will see two shades of yellow.  Some of it is a bit more “orangy” in nature, true to the prototype L&N lettering practices of applying Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing’s “CODIT” Reflective Liquid coating to the larger lettering graphics and numbers.  These cars had a return stencil applied to them as well: “FOR APPLIANCE LOADING ONLY RETURN TO PRR MANSFIELD OHIO.”  In other words, these cars were assigned to appliance loading service originating from the large Westinghouse factory complex there.  These cars include the second version of the Superior 9’ door.  This new model rides on the Tangent Scale Models 50-Ton ASF A-3 plain bearing truck.  These L&N models are offered  for the 1962 and later modeler!
