– Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) “Delivery 7-1961” another classic box car scheme, this time the MKT “red” car with black ends, roof, and underframe.  This beautiful car includes the sharp MKT logo in yellow, red, and black – gorgeously replicated of course – with a large “DF” stencil to indicate that the car was equipped with internal loading devices.  The left side of the car includes the “M-K-T” (literally!) reporting marks, and the highlight of the car – stenciling to show “WHEN EMPTY RETURN TO AGENT, P.R.R., COLUMBUS, OHIO.”  Yes – this part was part of a pool which made them go far and wide, likely assigned to loading at Westinghouse!  Return stencils like these were typical for assigned box cars of the 1960s.  These boxcars were built at Pullman-Standard’s Michigan City, IN plant and of course our car covers that correctly with the correct stenciling at the left side of the car.  These cars include a Pullman-Standard 9’ door, which has a tiny black “DF” italicized stencil on top of the yellow door stencil – a really neat feature if you are paying attention.  These cars have a black car cement roof, but the roof includes the typical Pullman carbody color overspray onto the top of it from the sides.  This new model rides on the market-leading Tangent 50-Ton ASF A-3 Ride Control Roller Bearing truck – with rotating “Timken” bearing caps!
