Bring a signature structure to your layout with this Cornerstone structure, typical of the large tanks once used by city and industrial gas works. Long before electricity and natural gas were common, these facilities generated "coal gas" or "town gas" (a byproduct of coke ovens) to power street lamps, home appliances and machinery. These massive storage tanks were actually the last stop, used to store gas and maintain a constant pressure in the underground supply pipelines. Moveable sections rose to increase storage capacity when demand was less, and lowered as demand increased.
With its intricate detail and easy construction, this model marks the first time an American-prototype gas storage tank is available. A must-have for period city scenes, one or two tanks can be used where space is limited to suggest a larger plant nearby.
