    Looks good on my shelf!

Posted by Scott Ogle on 2nd Jun 2022

In order to avoid supply chain problems and take advantage of sale prices, I like to anticipate my model railroad purchase needs and buy in advance. That means that there are always unbuilt kits, various scenic materials, and brand new rolling stock still in its original box sitting on layout room shelves. That makes reviewing them difficult, yet Midwest badgers me to review purchases. So here is my review of my latest Walthers kit: Shipping from Midwest is always prompt, and my box arrived just 54 hours after I placed the order. I’m pleased Walthers uses just a few standard sized boxes because that helps them stack efficiently with no danger of falling off the shelf. The box is rigidly square, which also helps it stack. Descriptive printing is sharp and detailed. I haven’t opened my kit yet, and probably won’t until I’m ready to combine it with other kits (still not bought) to build a lengthy bridge. That probably won’t happen until next fall. I’ll write another review at that time telling everyone how easy or difficult the build went.
